Film fanatics have praised The Godfather (and it"s sequel) as two of the best films ever made, and I could just never understand what could be so good about it. So, last year, I felt it was time to finally give the trilogy a go. And you know what? Everyone truly is right. It really is one of the best films ever made.
The Godfather tells the story of the Corleone family. The Corleone"s are a Sicilian family involved in organized crime. When the Don, Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando in an Oscar winning role)is shot in the streets (he lives) he asks his son Michael (Al Pacino, in an Oscar nominated role) to take over the family business. Michael never wanted to be in the family business. He always dreamed of just staying away from it, and living a peaceful life with his girlfriend Kay (Diane Keaton. But once he takes on the role of the Don, he realizes that there is no going back, and nothing can ever be the same.
The Godfather is a film that mainly focuses on two main subjects: family and betrayal. Both subjects are depicted beautifully. Director Francis Ford Coppola and his screenwriter Mario Puzo (who also wrote the novel) have made what is easily the best movie about family ever made. But yet they take the family movie to a whole new level.
The Godfather is three hours of pure perfection. Every actor here nails it, especially Brando. Brando is an actor that we beg to see more of. Even though the film mainly focuses on Pacino"s character, it is obviously Brando"s show. But even though it is Brando"s show, it is also sort of everyone"s show. Hell, it could even be considered James Caan"s show, because while he is in it, he steals the show.
The Godfather is easily one of Francis Ford Coppola"s best films. Yes, it is an amazing movie, and it isn"t even his best movie. This is one of the greatest movies ever made. I can"t quite say it"s my favorite movie ever, but it is certainly up there somewhere. It truly deserved best picture, and screenplay. But why the hell didn"t it win best director? That Oscar had FFC"s written all over it. If you haven"t seen it, see it before you die.

Cats know their names. After reading reviews and looking at the reviewer"s scores I expected the worst. Comments around poor CGI, poor story and in some cases poor singing are common in reviews and after almost not seeing this movie I decided to take the chance. The actual movie was very good. The CGI was good and I did not feel anything was weird. The lacks of clothes and the suggestion of breasts on the female cats were hardly noticed and I wonder what the motive of the comments actually was. The story was clearer than the stage play and the music was excellent. Anyone who liked the stage play will enjoy this movie. If you don"t like musicals and did not enjoy the stage play, then this movie is not for you. I would also suggest it may not appeal to younger viewers, although I could be wrong here.
